Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget and the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
